Vince:

One sad day a few years ago I took my son up to Boston to show him the best bookstore in the world ... we walked up and down the block ... confused ... I must be remembering the distance wrong ... but then we found it ... rather, we didn't ... some trendy clothing store ... just a ghost of the counter on the brick floor.

Jessica and I stood there, mouths gaping, unbelieving. But it was so: AVH was gone. I actually cried. At least, it felt like I should have.

Anyway, I'm glad to see your second life thriving here. I miss you dearly, almost as much as the shop. I'd like to get my paws on a signed ARC of "Hound," if you can direct me so.

Yours always, etc.,

I was one of those people in line! And I was excited, delighted, and...hmmmm...content (?) (the strong meaning of "content," though).

I've been following Small Beer Press since another writer introduced me to Kelly Link's first book when it came out, and, bonus, Hound sounds wonderful. In fact, I started reading it that evening, so I can say it is good--so far, at least.

And I really like this post on your BEA experience. Glad I located your blog and looking forward to keeping up with it.

Best wishes!
